Teeth Whitening
Pine Forest Family Dentistry can help make your smile dazzling white. If your smile has been looking a little dull lately, it could be because of stains in the enamel. Maybe you’ve already tried an over-the-counter whitening kit but don’t think they work. That’s because kits and whiteners available to the public are not strong enough to provide the desired results.
The amount of hydrogen peroxide in the whitener determines the strength, and the strength needed to produce noticeable results requires professional supervision to avoid damaging the tooth enamel.
Here at Pine Forest Dentistry, our in-office treatments can whiten your teeth up to 10 shades brighter and in a shorter amount of time than the over-the-counter treatments. A single session in the office lasts only 30 to 60 minutes, although it may take several sessions to get to the shade you desire.
Depending on your situation, some professional preparations can be applied at home. Our staff can discuss the possibilities with you.
Whitening toothpaste that advertises hydrogen peroxide as the whitening agent is truthful that they have hydrogen peroxide in them, but the toothpaste can’t be left on the teeth long enough to cause any change in color. If the whitening paste doesn’t contain hydrogen peroxide, it will continue chemicals and polishing agents to scrub stains from the teeth. Too much scrubbing can also damage the enamel, and caution should be used. Talk to us before attempting any at-home whitening procedures.
